BREAKING NEWS

Former President's Cup player Bradley Hughes has committed to play in the inaugural 2010 United States Match Play Championship, to be held June 29-July 3 at Pebble Creek Country Club in Taylors, South Carolina, just outside Greenville.  To date, Hughes is the highest-profile player to commit to the event.

In 1994, Hughes, originally from Australia, was named to the President's Cup team in 1994, representing the International team.  A former PGA Tour Player, Hughes also played on the Nationwide Tour, winning the 2004 Wichita Open.  He also is a two-time champion of the prestigious Australian Masters, winning in 1993 and 1998.

All entries and fees must be received by Wednesday, June 16, 2010, 5:00 p.m. EDT by the USGTF National Office. Phone and fax entries are not accepted. Entries will be accepted on a first-received, first-served basis. The USGTF National Office is located at 1295 SE Port St. Lucie Blvd., Port St. Lucie, FL 34952. The National Office is open Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and the phone number is (888) 346-3290 or (772) 335-3216. Checks are to be made payable to the USGTF.

The entry fee of $2,500 must be paid by each participant to be considered a valid entry. For this reason, those paying by personal check are advised to have their entry in by June 2, as any player paying by a personal check that is returned due to insufficient funds and is not corrected as of the entry deadline will not be eligible to participate, and will be charged a $100 fee. Those paying by credit card will be charged an additional $50 for a total entry fee of $2,550.

Withdrawal policy: Those who withdraw prior to the entry deadline will have their entry fees returned, minus a $300 administrative fee. Withdrawals must be done by phone, signed fax to (772) 335-3822, or signed regular mail. No e-mail withdrawals allowed. There will be no entry fees returned once the entry deadline has passed. Those who must withdraw after the entry deadline has passed will forfeit their entry fees, but may find a substitute player prior to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2010, and must notify the USGTF National Office by this time. After this time, all pairings will become official and anyone not playing will be listed as a DNS.
